Garden Design and build

We can highly recommend working with Konia, who has helped us transform our garden from a largely empty and soulless gravel and paved area with a couple of crushed and overcrowded beds, into an infinitely more attractive space.  Throughout the project, she has listened carefully to what we liked, needed or wanted for the garden, and responded accordingly.   We initially contacted her because although we had a large garden in our previous home, the location/climate/soil were completely different in our new home, and we were at a loss on how to work with the sandy soil and relatively dry and hot climate of Nairn.  We also needed major infrastructural work done in the garden (fencing, removal of overgrown large shrubs, building raised beds & compost bins, slabbing and pathwork) and Konia recommended a fantastic colleague for this part of the job.  During the whole project, Konia has been clear in her communication and very reliable.  She is also very open to working with people to different degrees, supporting you as little or much as you need (e.g. we’d said we were happy to do the physical labour of planting ourselves, but needed guidance about what species were suitable, who to buy them from, and where to place them).  In our initial brief, we’d said we would like to extend the colour and life in the garden for a longer part of the year; attract wildlife such as bees, butterflies and birds; work with the soil and climate rather than struggle to nurture plants not suited to it; have space to grow some edibles and for compost bins; add a fruit tree or two; retain a grass area for our dog; and keep the garden sufficiently low maintenance that we were not overwhelmed by its upkeep.  Konia has delivered this in spades (haha).  Even though we only planted it up at the end of June, the garden has flourished.  We still have some colour and interest now at the end of November.  We’re very much looking forward to see how it develops over the next couple of years, and we know we can ask Konia back as needed to guide us through any future stages where we could use professional help. C & S McC, Nairn

whatever your garden issue

Whatever your garden issue is, Konia is the answer. She designed our garden from scratch, dealing with difficult leveling out and drainage issues and making the most of what was already there.  She has flair and imagination when designing, and plans for how you will get the most fun and the last drop of sunshine out of your garden. Her ideas range from the outrageous to the practical, but she will always listen to what you want – there is never any pressure. Then comes choosing plants. Her plant knowledge is fantastic – she will know exactly what to suggest for your particular garden. Everything I have chosen with Konia’s guidance has flourished, because she puts the right plant in the right place for your soil, climate and wildlife issues (rabbits!). And such beautiful and unusual plants too. Konia has also overseen the transformation either doing work herself or finding people to come and do it, and everything has been done to the highest standard so that it looks fantastic.  She is great to work with, gets things done, is really good value, and you will be so glad you got her involved.

Garden Coaching

Working with Konia has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience. She doesn’t do everything for you, but instead, she involves you in the process and coaches you through the various steps, allowing you to gain knowledge along the way. The experience has awakened a new interest for me and provided me with an enjoyable hobby. After years of avoiding the garden, I now can’t stay out of mine! Jackie H., Garve

Garden Consultation

I am delighted with all the help that Konia has given us for our garden. It’s a process that began last summer with an initial visit from Konia to my garden. Lots of ideas came out of that visit and a list of work required. Konia also provided details of local tradespeople who would do the work although we prefered to do it ourselves. In the spring, I arranged another visit from Konia to to make up a planting list. I’m very keen to have wildlife friendly plants in the garden and Konia suggested a selection of plants that would benefit wildlife at different times of the year. Once I was ready for planting, Konia visited again to place the plants. I’ve really enjoyed the whole process. Konia has been very encouraging and understands the type of garden that suits me. I now have a plan for my garden and I’m looking forward to watching the plants mature. Next years project is a pond (a garden is never finished!) and I’ll be asking Konia for more advice.  Sarah W., Inverness

Sophie’s garden

an 8 year old’s garden

Sophie is 8 years old, a keen gardener and my youngest client. In 2017 I was commissioned to create a flower bed for her, her own wee patch of paradise.

Here a drawing by Sophie of what she wanted from her garden

here the garden (Sophie’s bed) is being mapped out

The bed was then dug and planted up – once spring is here I’ll post more pictures!
